Electric Scooter Troubleshooting Wizard

Problem: Scooter Runs Slowly or Has a Short Run Time

Steps Taken: 4

The batteries have been conditioned if they are brand new.

The air pressure in the tires has been checked and adjusted if necessary.

The brake system has been inspected for rubbing and adjusted if necessary.

The battery charger has been checked and replaced if necessary.

Nest Step: Determine Age and Condition of Battery Pack
Electric scooter batteries loose capacity over time which causes the mileage range of the scooter to decrease. Whether the scooter was used a lot or sitting most of the time usually does not effect how long the batteries will last. What effects how long the batteries will last the most is forgetting to recharge them soon after every ride or forgetting to recharge them every 30 days when the scooter is in storage or not being used. Most good quality electric scooter batteries will last for around 300 long rides and or between 2-3 years if they are properly maintained. Determine the age of the battery pack and how well it has been maintained. If the batteries are over 3 years old or if they have been improperly maintained at any point in their life then they have most likely lost some capacity and will need to be replaced to regain the scooters original mileage range. Replace the battery pack if it has lost too much capacity and retest the scooter.
